Monitor PC

It is a good practice to know and monitor your pc. It helps you to understand problem and then solution could be easily found. I will share my personal experience with you so that you could understand the importance of monitor your computer. I am from Bangladesh. We have winter season from September to February. Due the present climate changes it is not always true.
Now come to the main story. I am using AMD Athelon 5200+ X2 processor. As I was busy and previously my graphics card is also not up to date so I am not able to start heavy gaming before the winter. Call of Duty 4, 5 and 6 could not create any challenge to my processor. Then I start playing BIOWARE games like mass effect and Dragon age. Bioware’s game traditionally always heavy processor dependent. When I play them I always found that they are using CPU 100%. I don’t have any problem to play them in winter with stock cooler but when Dragon Age expansion pack comes to the market then summer is in full height in our country. It is the time when I face the problem of system shutdown for playing it. I could not find any problem at first. So I start monitor my system with CPUID Hardware Monitor. I saw that my processor temperature start increasing up to 102°C and system shutdown automatically to prevent it from frying. After that I bought a Thermaltake Duo Orb cpu cooler and like magic my problem is solved. So I hope my experience and suggestion will help you to monitor and better understand your system. The software I am going to suggest are all free and not malware or spyware and if you have any doubt you could check about them quite easily by simply google them.

Softwares

CPU-ZCPU-Z is a freeware system profiler (system monitor) application for Microsoft Windows (for all versions from 95 on) that detects the central processing unit, RAM, motherboard chipset, and other hardware features of a modern personal computer, and presents the information in one window. CPU-Z is more in-depth in almost all areas than the features that a Windows OS provides to identify various hardware components.

CPU-Z yields an impressive data sheet of a computer system's functions and operations. By cutting out a lot of technical and manual searching, this handy freeware generates a list of information that computer lovers will find very helpful

Another very useful site is http://www.extreme.outervision.com/. You could calculate the power usage, overclock etc. Just take some time to discover this site and take the advantage.
Avast Free Anti-virus: Virus attack become a troublesome issue for computer user. They become so effective that sometime you will forget to become sorry. Like my experience. I had been attacked by virus two month ago. It is a gentle and silent one. It never does announce its presence. If you attacked by it you will found that your setup.exe is attacked and damaged. So you will have all the .exe and other file but you will don't have single setup.exe file to setup them. Your backup of 30-40 GB become nothing in an instant. As I don't have the mean to use a costly anti-virus I start use avast and I am happy with its performance. As for example its design and other layout now totally different and more smart. You will never feel that you are using a free anti virus and its scan seems faster to me and also effective (Though it could not repair the damaged .exe file but I don't think that costlier one could do that). I am not saying anything against other anti virus or spy ware. I just advice a free anti virus if you don't have any other mean.
